Hello,
WeGotTickets is getting old - we'll be celebrating our tenth birthday on the 19th of April! It doesn't sound old but in the world of internet ticketing that's a very distinguished age, putting us at the top of the pile. To mark the occasion we'll be hosting a party at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, London - the first EVER venue we sold tickets for all those years ago - with a couple of our favourite new bands playing, the superb
EXLOVERS and
JONQUIL, and our friends at
Rockfeedback will also be spinning some tunes for you. Tickets have just gone on sale and are available
HERE.In the meantime, the featured treats this week include
Band of Horses, who have announced an extra show after their Koko tickets sold out almost immediately,
The Raincoats,
Mr Hudson,
Summer Camp,
Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra,
Bass Clef, and festival recommendations in the form of
Oxfringe,
2000trees,
Bromyard Folk Festival and
Americana International.
If you want to check out some of the acts we've mentioned, why not have a little listen to the
WeGotTickets Spotify Playlist?
Band of Horses:
After their Koko show sold out in just 23 minutes it's with great pleasure we can let you know about an extra Band of Horses show, taking place at the amazing Roundhouse venue in Chalk Farm, London in mid-June.
Darlings of the indie-rock scene since their 2007 album 'Everything All The Time' catapulted them out of the US Northwest and into the hearts of indie kids around the globe, Band of Horses evoke Neil Young's ragged folk sound and contemporaries such as Built To Spill. Their huge anthems (meant in the best possible way) mean these shows should be very special occasions leaving you hoarse from singing along for days afterward.

The Raincoats performing "
The Raincoats":
Widely acclaimed as one of the musical highlights of the post punk period and a breakthrough moment for women in music, The Raincoats' 1979 eponymous debut album had been unavailable for nearly ten years until its recent reissue towards the end of last year.
To celebrate the release the band will be playing an All Tomorrow's Parties now legendary Don't Look Back show, showcasing the album in its entirety for all comers at London's Scala, and will also appear at both the Matt Groening and Pavement curated festivals in May.

Mr Hudson:
Chart-topping R&B/pop star Mr Hudson is well known for his friendships and collaborations with N-Dubz, Dizzee Rascal, Jay-Z and, in particular, current king of Hip Hop Kanye West, who signed Hudson to his G.O.O.D label.
Perhaps less well known is that he studied English Literature at Oxford University, and after a slow start as Mr Hudson and the Library he now seems ready for global stardom after dropping the Library - let's just hope his old professor doesn't find out, eh?

Summer Camp:
Not to be confused with 80s rockers Summercamp, we can reveal (only a few weeks after those great folk at The Stool Pigeon revealed the same thing!) that initial reports that the band are seven Swedish friends who met at summer camp while teenagers are false; they're actually none other than Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey.
It's hard not to be instantly charmed by their idyllic, infectious love songs where distortion-wrapped boy/girl vocals innocently swoon and swoop over heavenly guitars and synths. Perfectly formed and steeped in aching nostalgia for hazy aural enjoyment, their instantly effective pop pick-me-ups are the sound of summer love and the perfect antidote to a seemingly never ending winter.

Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra:
Originally put together by Efrim of chamber/post-rock marvels Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and built around a core of musicians either from or associated with that act, it took a while for Silver Mt. Zion to come out of the shadow of that particular behemoth, but in the last few years they've arguably become just as (if not more) popular.
The band recently returned with their new album, 'Kollaps Tradixionales', a tour de force of neo-classical punk rock (if such a thing really exists), with both beautiful and crushing music accompanied by their trademark haunting group vocals. This is music that has to be seen live to be truly understood and I implore you to get your tickets now!

Bass Clef:
Bass Clef is rooted in deepest London and has a very distinct sound and live stage show, criss-crossing boundaries and making friends where ever he goes. An analogue fetishist of the bottom-end kind, bypassing laptop/looping and fully embracing a heavy and warm sound, he's been described as 'dubstep not dubstep' - a catchy title, since Bass Clef is not a neat and tidy genre artist, but a one-of-a-kind.
Playing at our favourite London venue, The Luminaire, with support from Robert Logan, dadahack, and P45 this promises to be a great show mixing up glitchy electronica and dubstep, and receives a huge WeGotTickets seal of approval.
